Pourquoi soleil et imperfections ne font pas bon ménage ?

Why don't sun and imperfections go well together?

Why don't sun and imperfections go well together?

Every year, it's the same story: your peachy complexion in August gives way to blemish-prone skin at the end of the holidays. What causes this and how can you best protect your skin during the summer? Our advice for a smooth return from vacation.

IMPERFECTIONS AND SUN : BE CAREFUL OF THE REBOUND EFFECT

Problem skin, beware of the sun! If every summer you have the feeling that the quality of your skin improves upon contact with UV rays, your imperfections are happy to return (often in greater numbers!) at the start of the school year. A phenomenon well known to dermatologists, under the name of rebound effect .

The rebound effect, how does it work? In summer, under the effect of UV rays, the skin tends to thicken . Your acne is no longer (or almost no longer) visible to the eye, but has not disappeared: it only hides a little further under your epidermis.

Your skin, for its part, continues to function normally and, like the rest of the year, it secretes sebum. The problem is that because of the thickening of your epidermis , the sebum – particularly the cause of acne is unable to drain normally and gradually blocks your pores. At the end of summer, your skin returns to its usual thickness and lets out the excess sebum accumulated during the summer . Hard for your skin, which then begins to bud more significantly than the rest of the year.

DIRECTIONS FOR PRETTY SKIN AT THE BACK TO SCHOOL

Although the rebound effect is common, it is not inevitable and a few simple precautions to apply during the summer are generally enough to avoid it. Here is 5 rules for a peachy complexion at the start of the school year .

Protect yourself

When you go out, always apply sunscreen . By protecting you from UV rays, it will also reduce the thickening of your skin caused by the sun. Consequence: the sebum does not wait for the end of good weather to flow, thus limiting the rebound effect .

Purify and cleanse

Apply a purifying lotion every evening on your T zone, in order to regulate your sebum production . Once a week also apply a purifying mask , with Koalin for example, on your entire face, in order to unclog your pores.

Hydrate

Well-hydrated skin means skin that secretes less sebum . And less sebum means less acne and blackheads. So remember to hydrate your skin well throughout the summer , preferably with a fluid or a treatment with a light texture but rich in water , morning and evening.

Focus on nude

Also take advantage of summer and your naturally tanned complexion to reduce makeup , mattifying powder and other high-coverage makeup, which tend to clog the pores of your skin. Take advantage of the sunny days to let your skin breathe ... it will be grateful to you when you return to school.

Eat healthily

Food plays an important role in the quality of your epidermis . During the summer, cut back on foods with a high glycemic index, known to increase sebum secretion.
